The color you choose for your dresser is just as important as the style you select. The wrong color dresser can totally throw off the look of your bedroom. For example a bright red dresser would be the wrong choice for a bedroom with a classic traditional theme and a neutral colored dresser would look all wrong in a modern contemporary bedroom. Most dressers are available in wood stains like oak cherry and mahogany. If you find yourself a little unsure about color a wood stain is probably the safest route to choose as they are the easiest to blend in with just about any style of room. No matter what color you choose make sure its not overpowering the rest of the room.
Dressers can come in different shapes and forms and this ultimately determines what to use it for and how to place it inside the bedroom. Sometimes dressers are chosen and made to suit a theme chosen for the room and sometimes it is purposely designed to stand out in the room because of its aesthetic qualities. The oldest and most traditional forms of dressers are usually smaller and are used to keep smaller articles and clothing in order. Most of these dressers are used to keep underwear socks and other trinkets and items like jewelry. Today many newer designs are larger and have more storage space than usual. These dressers have more drawers and more storage space. Furthermore many craftsmen are now making dressers with more intricate designs and aesthetic quality and so dressers are valued not just because of their functionality but because of their design value as well. The purposes of your traditional dresser have now been expanded.
Custom Made Dresser. You might be looking for a specific type of bedroom furniture dresser design that is currently not available on the market. For instance you have scanned the internet for bedroom furniture dressers designs found a design you like but could not find a ready made dresser at your local furniture store. Many furniture stores will allow you to place an order for a custom made dresser. This may cost a little more than the "off the shelf" dresser but at least you will get what you want.
The dresser for the bedroom as an essential piece of furniture has been much in demand for centuries. Traditionally a gentlemans dresser for his bedroom was made of oak or mahogany usually with two top drawers for stockings gloves cravats handkerchiefs and other accouterments. On the top would be placed lace covers and a mirror that should ideally match the wood of the dresser. The remaining three drawers would be single and capacious enough to carry shirts woollens and breeches.
When compared to pine furniture unfinished oak furniture is second to it in terms of popularity amongst furniture buyers. This is because this unfinished oak dresser can easily be stained and coated in a layer of clear urethane.
Wardrobe Armoires. Wardrobe armoires are tall and wide dressers that consist of two outward opening panel doors and pull out drawers below. The height of a wardrobe armoire is anywhere between 4 and 6 feet. The upper part of the armoire is usually used for hanging clothes.
